Office of Labor-Management Enforcement
The Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS) conducts both civil and criminal investigations of alleged violations of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) and related laws.
These investigations by OLMS District Offices involve issues such as embezzlements of union funds, union officer elections, the filing of required reports by unions and others with OLMS, and the imposition of trusteeships over subordinate unions by a parent body. These investigations may result in legal enforcement actions.

March 28th, 2003 On March 28, 2003, the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office issued a criminal complaint against Susan Bertram, former treasurer of National Association of Government Employees Local 01-195, charging her with one count of larceny over $250. She had embezzled over $21,000 from the local by withdrawing cash, writing checks and money orders to herself, and making wire transfers to her credit accounts from union funds. The charges were brought following an investigation by the OLMS Boston District Office.
