On May 16, 2011, in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, Charles Owens, former Financial Secretary of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners (UBCJA) Local 2791 (located in Lebanon, Ore.), was sentenced to three years supervised release and was ordered to pay a $25 special assessment penalty. On February 23, 2011, Owens pled guilty to one count of willful failure to maintain records in the interest of concealing the embezzlement of over $65,000 in union funds, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 439(c).
