Card Check Deception, IBEW style
I stumbled upon an IBEW document this morning that is a prime example of the bill of goods unions are using to sell the deceptively-named Employee Free Choice Act. It is a PDF document titled “Know the Truth” from the IBEW. It explains that: “The purpose of the card if very simple…The law says you must [more...]

Editorial: Dems should heed McGovern’s appeal
Today’s Charleston Post and Courier has an excellent editorial against the deceptively-named Employee Free Choice Act suggesting that Democrats in Congress should heed Former South Dakota Senator and Presidential Candidate George McGovern’s recent appeal to drop their support of anti-worker bill. They wrote: Mr. McGovern hailed America’s unions — as he has throughout more than [more...]

The 30-50 Myth
Unions, and their friends in Congress, must have figured out that eliminating workers’ access to secret ballot votes for more than 100 million working Americans wasn’t popular. Go figure. That is probably why they are pushing the line that the deceptively-named Employee Free Choice Act “does not strip workers of their right to choose a [more...]

Unionized Newspapers and Conflicts of Interest

Union Math, Union Myths

Union officials have made ending secret ballots for workers deciding whether to join a union their highest legislative priority. Instead of elections, they want a “card check” process that is set up for fraud and is unfair to working Americans. Learn more about the dangers of this union scheme in our new report, “When Voting Isn’t Private: The Union Campaign Against Secret Ballot Elections.” You’ll find out why:

  • Union bosses want to end elections, even though they win more than 50% of the time
  • Editorial pages from across America are denouncing card check and demanding secret ballot elections
  • 75 percent of Americans think secret ballots are the most democratic method of choosing a union

Union Math, Union Myths

Since its peak in the 1950s, union membership in the private sector has steadily dropped. To explain the decline, labor leaders have scapegoated businesses for intimidating employees during organizing campaigns. But data from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) do not—in any way—substantiate the notion that tens of thousands of employees are wrongly fired each year.

By logically linking organizing campaigns with Unfair Labor Practices, we determined that only 2.7 percent of union organizing campaigns feature an employee illegally fired (and offered reinstatement, typically with back pay).
